Managing unplanned absences

By Priyan Jun 21, 2018

Sometimes, even the most reliable employees could be absent from work without prior planning. Therefore, unplanned absences are something every organization needs to be wary of. A standard leave policy must be in place to mitigate unplanned absences. The first step in ensuring employees are following the leave policy is to ensure employee’s attendance and leave are properly tracked. For this purpose, it is pivotal to have biometric devices and a human resource management system in place. If you are using OrangeHRM along with biometric devices, you’ll be able to use the monthly attendance report to ensure employees are applying for leave to account for absences. This report will allow you to see the employees’ hours on leave and hours worked on each day side by side. This way you can see the days on which employees’ work hours are less than expected while hours on leave is not available to meet the shortfall. For example, you can run the report with hours worked less than eight and hours on leave equals zero. This will help you ensure employees are applying for leave whenever they are absent.
